In New Thought, we affirm that life is always evolving, always expanding, always seeking a greater expression of itself. Our vision is a world that works for all, a world where every individual is recognized as a divine expression of the Infinite. This includes our trans siblings, whose existence is not an aberration but a vital part of the evolutionary unfolding of human consciousness.
The Evolution of Humanity: A Personal Take on Spiral Dynamics
Over the past two decades, I’ve seen a lot of shifts in how people think about identity, belonging, and what it means to be fully expressed. Spiral Dynamics has been a helpful lens for me, not as some rigid academic model, but as a way to make sense of how we grow—individually and collectively.
In earlier mindsets, people tend to see the world in clear-cut, black-and-white terms—good vs. bad, right vs. wrong, male vs. female. It makes sense; structure and certainty feel safe. But as we grow, we start to recognize that life isn’t that simple. We move into a more open, inclusive space where we see that identity isn’t something dictated by old rules—it’s something alive, something each person gets to define for themselves.
From my experience, resistance to trans identities often comes from people still holding onto older worldviews, where everything has to fit in a predefined box. But the world isn’t a box; it’s a living, evolving thing. And trans people? They’re at the leading edge of that evolution, showing us new ways to understand ourselves and each other.
New Thought and the Sacredness of Self-Expression
In New Thought, we teach that each of us is a unique expression of the Divine. If God is infinite, then that means there are infinite ways to show up in this world—including gender identity. Trans people are not anomalies; they are sacred expressions of Life’s boundless creativity.
We also talk a lot about how thoughts shape reality. If we truly believe in a world that works for all, then we have to let go of narratives that exclude or diminish anyone. Instead, we affirm the divine right of every person to live as their true self. To deny that is to deny the expansive nature of God itself.
And let’s be real—when we talk about Oneness, that means everyone. If one part of our community is hurting, we all are. If a system is set up to suppress or erase trans people, then it’s doing harm to the whole. Our work is about wholeness, and that means standing up for the dignity, safety, and rights of trans people.
The Evolution of Gender
If you really look at history, gender has never been as rigid as some people claim. Many cultures, from Native American Two-Spirit traditions to South Asia’s Hijra community, have recognized and honored gender fluidity for centuries. What we’re seeing now isn’t new—it’s a remembering, a returning to something deeply human.
The fact that more and more people are openly embracing their truth is a sign of progress. It’s proof that we’re breaking out of old limitations and stepping into a new way of being—one that’s more honest, more expansive, and more aligned with the truth that we are all divine expressions of Life.
Walking the Talk
If we really mean it when we say we want a world that works for all, then that has to show up in action. That means:
Calling out discrimination and injustice when we see it
Supporting trans-led organizations and movements
Making sure our spiritual spaces are truly inclusive and affirming
Checking our own biases and continuing to grow in our understanding
Spiritual growth isn’t just about feeling good—it’s about making the world better.
A Call to Higher Consciousness
Trans people are not a problem to be solved or a debate to be had; they are essential to our collective unfolding. Their courage to live authentically is a lesson for all of us—a reminder that we’re here to break free from limiting beliefs and embrace the fluid, ever-expanding nature of the Divine.
As we step into higher levels of consciousness, we have to recognize that love, justice, and awakening go hand in hand. Excluding anyone from our vision of a world that works for all means we’re still stuck in outdated ways of thinking.
It’s time to level up—to embrace the truth that trans people are sacred, necessary, and part of the divine evolution of humanity.
Let’s step into this truth together and create a world where everyone is free to be exactly who they are meant to be.
